Knotted Treasure Pendant | Friday, October 9 | 5-7pm In October, discover the art of the miniature! Participants will transform small, personal talismans like river stones, sea glass, or cherished keepsakes into delicate, wearable sculptures. By mastering the rhythmic craft of the micro-net, you will learn to encapsulate these treasures in a custom mesh by adjusting density and form to suit each unique object. Whether finished with a strand of beads or left in its purest corded form, your creation becomes a portable piece of folk art.

A full day of free workshops at the Mingei International Museum of Folk Art in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA.

Sitoë Thiam will lead an introduction to macrame, the art of knotting. Students will learn how to tie a few beginner friendly knots, then learn some strategies to compose them and create their own small works of art.
